The short version
Rewrite This has no user accounts and no database. The messages you paste are processed to generate your rewrite and are not stored by us. We don't use tracking cookies, and we don't sell data to anyone.
The messages you paste
When you click “Rewrite this,” your message is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic (our AI provider) to generate the rewrite. We do not save your messages - there is no database on our side to save them in. Anthropic processes API data to provide the service and does not use it to train its models. Don't paste things that shouldn't leave your organization at all, like credentials or regulated data.
Anonymous usage metadata
So we can understand how the tool is used and improve it, we log a few non-identifying details about each rewrite: which tone was chosen, which page it came from, and the character length of the text in and out. We never log the message itself, and we never log your IP address. These are aggregate numbers about usage, not records of what anyone wrote.
The daily usage counter
Your free-rewrite counter lives in your own browser's localStorage. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data resets it. We use it only to enforce the daily free limit.
Your email address
If you choose to enter your email to unlock extra rewrites, it is stored by Netlify Forms (our hosting provider's form service). We use it to understand who finds the tool useful and, occasionally, to tell you about meaningful updates. We never sell or share it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Analytics
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count page views and understand which pages help people. This gives us aggregate numbers - not profiles of individual visitors. We don't use advertising trackers.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Netlify, which - like any web host - processes standard server logs (IP addresses, request times) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We also apply a rate limit by IP address to prevent abuse of the rewriter; those counters are held briefly in memory and are not stored permanently.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data - for example, if we ever add accounts - we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
